How do I update or insert the song(s) I’m listening to when/while I blog? For some reason this has been a question on the minds of people since blogging became popular.

Thus it is no wonder that when Windows Live Writer came out one of the first questions was… Yup, you guessed it right. And so, among the first 5 plugins released for Windows Live Writer was Currently Listening.

Currently Listening is a plugin you install manually. Just move the .dll file to the plugins directory in the folder where you installed Windows Live Writer.

Once done, and once Windows Live Writer is installed again, you can configure some simple options for Currently Listening To.

Insert option for Currently Listening for Windows Live WriterTo insert the data of which track you’re currently listening to simply hit the Insert Currently Listening To… entry in the Insert menu in the sidebar or the Insert menu dropdown.

Problems?

  • I get “There is no track currently playing.”

To get the WLW plugin Currently Listening To to work you need at least 2 of 3 things:

  • The .NET 2.0 distributable (where can I get it? Here)

and at least one of these:

  • The Windows Media Blogging Plugin (when you want to use the Currently Listening plugin in Windows Live Writer with Windows Media Player)
  • The iTunes Plugin (based on the Windows Media one above) (when you want to use the Currently Listening plugin in WLW with iTunes)
