LiveWriter OnScreen
Like WIndows Live Writer System Tray, LiveWriter OnScreen is more of a powertoy than a plugin. LiveWriter OnScreen is about blogging images and feeds. Of course you can also click New Post to just start blogging.
LiveWriter OnScreen can integrate with a Flickr account.
Once installed and started, LiveWriter OnScreen can sit in your system tray or float around on your desktop.
The floating windows consists of four buttons: snip screen, a mutli-function type of blog it, help/about and close.
Snip Screen is a screen capture option. The image can be saved to a local directory (set in the options) and uploaded to Flickr.
When you click the button crosshairs appear with which you will define the area to capture.
The multi-option button is used to configure LiveWriter OnScreen — but you can also reach the Windows Live Writer options screen with it.
There are 5 author post entries: Create a new blog post, Open a blog post, Blog image from local file, Blog image from the web, Blog an item from My Feeds.
The Blog image from… options are virtually identical save for the field where you enter the image location.
These screens contain three fields: the location of the original image, the title of the post to be created, the actual post content (marked as Comment in the screen).
The “comment” field can accept HTML, which you will need because it doesn’t auto-format posts: pressing [ENTER] several times will not create paragraphs nor insert linebreaks.
The Blog an item from My Feeds is directly related, hooked in, to Internet Explorer 7. It does not add a Blog Item button to other newsreaders. Instead, it calls up a window which lists the feeds and posts as Internet Explorer 7 has them.
In this regard LiveWriter OnScreen deals with feeds the same way WIndows Live Mail Desktop (beta, at the time of writing) does.
