If you find yourself typing the same links over and over again, Insert Add Links might just be the Windows Live Writer plugin for you.
After manual installation (how to manually install a plugin?) a new insert option appears in the Insert menu dropdown and/or in your sidebar.
The first time you start the plugin the resulting window is almost empty: you have to add your own links. Simply click somewhere in the grid and fill out ID (anything you want really), description (this is the text you can search for later on as well as the text that will from the link) and URL.
Now imagine I want to once again point to the download post about Windows Live Writer. Click on the insert option. Imagine I have a ton of links instead of the four shown here :-)
In the Filter field in the top of the window I enter the text I’m searching for. Remember, the plugin searches in the description field. Bingo, there we have it!
With the link selected I click on the Add button. A moment later the link, made out of the URL I previously entered linking the text I had put in the description field, appears in Windows Live Writer.
If you find this plugin interesting or tempting, also have a look at Text Templates.

Flickr Inkify, sometimes called FlickrInkifier, is a Windows Live Writer Flickr plugin with a twist: it supports ink editing. That is, if your system has ink support.
With or without, the basic operation of Flickr Inkify is to retrieve images from Flickr. Like Simple Flickr Insert and unlike Flickr4Writer, images appear one by one in a small window. You can use previous/next buttons to navigate the image set.
If your system does have ink support then you can also write on the image or do some simple image processing. The result will be uploaded back to Flickr as a new image (Examples).

Hitting [ENTER] in Window Live Writer makes for a new paragraph: a blank line is inserted between the previous one and the new one.
What if you would just like to end the current
line and
continue on the next?
Like this..?
Simply press [SHIFT] + [ENTER] at the same time. This inserts a line break.
As Joe Cheng points out, this also works in Microsoft Word and most other WYSIWYG applications.

Note 1: for those who just want to tag, have a look at the current Windows Live Writer tagging plugins instead.
Note 2: if you would just like to be able to use Windows Live Writer’s Keywords field to enter tags or keywords, check out WordPress: Keywords & Tags using Windows Live Writer keywords.
First Solution
The first solution has an upside and a downside.
The upside is that it enables you to use Windows Live Writer’s Keywords field for tagging. The downside is that it involves editing your WordPress’ xmlrpc.php file.

Second Solution
The second solution is quite elegant. You simply tell Ultimate Tag Warrior to keep an eye out for embedded tags, add your own tags to your post and… you’re done.

He also has a good idea on how to use tag4writer with Ultimate Tag Warrior (see tag4writer). The same principle also works great with the Windows Live Writer tagging plugin Multiple Tag.

Changpeng Zhao posts a solution for those who want to post to a Drupal blog via Windows Live Writer but find they can’t get the categories to work.
It seems there was a lot of changes in the XMLRPC.php code in the 4.7.2 -> 4.7.3 upgrade. I happened to have an installation of 4.7.2 and tried it there. After some screwing around, I got Windows Live Writer to work with 4.7.2.
Here are config issues I know:
- Use drupal 4.7.2 instead of 4.7.3 (hopefully, they will fix whatever they changed)
- Enable blogapi module
- Enable blog module (this made a difference for me)
- Config the blogapi module to MovableType
He goes on to list the configuration for Windows Live Writer that goes with it.
Finally got it working… Drupal & Windows Live Writer.
