Windows Live Writer System Tray
Can’t live without Windows Live Writer? Need easy or easier access? Need instant access even when not using the Windows Live Toolbar or the Blogit Firefox extension?
Windows Live Writer System Tray is precisely the application you were looking for. Unzip the download, put the resulting folder in a place on your hard disk you’re comfortable with and you’re (almost) done. You might want to create a shortcut to the LiveWriterTray.exe. Maybe not just on your desktop but in your StartUp menu as well.
Once running LiveWriterTray takes up a mere 10MB. Sounds like a lot, maybe, but it is a lot less than the roughly 40MB Windows Live Writer takes up when it is running.
None the less, Windows Live Writer System Tray gives you access to most WLW functions: New Post, Open Existing Post and Show WLW Options.
Windows Live Writer System Tray however is not a replacement for the Blog It button on the Windows Live Toolbar or the Blog It Firefox extension. If you were to highlight text in any application and click New Post in the Windows Live Writer System Tray, it would not start a new post for you with that text selected.
It’s simply a way to get to the most important options in your beloved desktop blogging client, Windows Live Writer.
